Big things are happening in the KRW world. Between engagements happening and working on rebranding, it's been quite busy! But I'm excited to introduce a new blog series called Just Engaged! that features engaged couples and their wedding plans. These aren't necessarily KRW brides, but people I enjoy celebrating. Read on for details on my beautiful roommate and her beau as they plan for a dreamy September wedding in Greenville, SC! Happy Friday!
How did you and Patrick meet?
J: At the beach when I was 13 and he was 14. He was on a mission trip and I was with family, though I ended up kind of being on the mission trip! He kept in touch with me and we rekindled over lunch at Tupelo Honey Cafe in Asheville, NC last November. We took things slow but purposeful until Patrick's pastor encouraged him to make things official.
How did he propose?
Kelly: I'll actually answer this one, since I know more about it than Jimmie! Being roommates, we talked a lot about Patrick proposing. Pat and I had been planning since October, but Jimmie had no idea. On Monday we had a huge heart to heart about when it would be (she had no idea it was only 4 days away!) He told her he was working all weekend in Knoxville without knowing he was driving to Columbia. It was Friday morning at the Phi Mu house and while all the girls were having brunch, I told Jimmie that my grandparents were in town and wanted us to come to lunch. Our friend Madison came over and we said as little as possible as Jimmie tried to decide what to wear. I changed Patrick's name to Grandpa in my phone and he called as soon as he was outside. I ran out the door- camera in hand- a few steps ahead of Madison and Jimmie. As they walked down the stairs, Jimmie saw Patrick through the window and froze. Walking out the door to see Patrick with red rose in hand completely threw her off guard as Madison and I snapped pictures and Phi Mu's crowded all the way up the staircase inside to see. After some sweet words, he got down on one knee and she said yes!
When is your big day?
J: September 5th 2015!
What is your wedding theme?
J: Simple, elegant, romantic, clean
What has been unexpected in your wedding planning process?
J: It has gone smoother than I expected, especially after seeing all the hubbub that weddings on tv get.
What meaningful details are you incorporating into your wedding?
J: The ceremony is at the church I grew up in- the one I was attending when I met Patrick. We're also keeping our theme of the 5th. We met on June 5th 2007, got engaged on December 5th 2014 and are getting married on September 5th 2015 at 5:00pm.
How did you know he was the one?
J: He was so forward in leading me with my relationship with Jesus. He wanted to be with me for more reasons than him thinking I was pretty and nice. He saw potential in me to do missions with him and wants to see Christ glorified in me. It's totally different when you meet someone like that. He speaks truth.
Well, there ya have it! Huge congrats to one of my favorite couples. I can't wait to see all that God does through your marriage. And when you plant a church in Costa Rica, I'm definitely visiting!
