Hey y’all! It’s too long since I’ve updated you on what’s been happening with KRW. It’s been an exciting whirlwind getting this off the ground. And I’m learning day by day (slowly but surely!) what actually goes into running a business with a LOT of help from those around me. So here’s what’s been happening the last few months! Over winter break, my dear friend Amanda Wiltse recommended me to try out the Small Business Development Center. They are located in many different states and offer free business consulting. I have been seeing one of their employees who has explained, critiqued, and helped me in many ways. I’m learning how to use new software, pay taxes and log hours like a big girl. Huge shout out to Scott Bellows and SBDC!
Through the South Carolina Federal Credit Union, I finally got up the courage to open a bank account after putting it off for the last two months. Turns out it wasn’t scary at all and I put it off for no reason. Thank you Travis for all your help and patience with me! Snaps to being financially competent!
I booked my first client since operating as an official business. I met Brooke last year while attending Greek Summit in Destin, Florida. When she reached out to me, I was ecstatic! She is the farthest thing from a bridezilla and is absolutely a BLAST to work with! I’m unbelievably thankful for how gracious she is with me and for taking a chance on my baby business. I can hardly wait for the big day this summer!
ByFarr Design came through big time with creating my business cards. WAY better than I could have ever done. Margaret and Laura are the absolute sweetest to work with and even were generous enough to let my wedding planning organization at USC come visit their studio and ask them questions about the stationery process. Give them your business and you will NOT regret it! All custom, all great.
After going back and forth for a few weeks, I finally decided it was in the best interest of my sanity to use the organization app that Laura (ByFarr) recommended to me. It has helped me so much in planning out my next steps for Brooke’s wedding and my business in general through letting me organize all my to-do’s into folders and put due dates on them. They even sync with a calendar. Needless to say, it makes my type A very happy.
I hope to have many more updates in the coming months! Right now, I just have to thank you all again for your overwhelming support and help. This season of life has been a blast and so far I’m loving running my own business. On the crazy days, I rest on the fact that even when not everything on my list gets done and I’m frustrated and overwhelmed, the Lord is still in control. He isn’t stressed, He isn’t rushed. And that gives me a lot of comfort. So thankful that my identity is in him and not in my work. As long as He is the center, I can be at peace.
With love, Kelly
