Thank You

There have been many people along the way who have helped me build the desire and confidence to start this business. There’s no way I would have ever even started without the encouragement and help I’ve received, so I figure it’s only appropriate to spend my first blog acknowledging all the ones who have greatly contributed to KRW. Julie Pickering, my fashion marketing teacher in high school who assigned my class an end-of-the-year project to plan our own weddings. This project is where I found my love for planning and weddings, and I owe a huge amount of my gratitude to Mrs. Pick!

Miriam Liggett, owner and founder of Soliloquy Bridal Couture. She took a chance on me by accepting me as a summer intern at her new bridal store in 2012. She taught me profound lessons on starting a business, how to manage employees and run a business based on faith. She gave me great experience in the industry that made me fall in love with weddings even more.

Sarena Escano Baker and Nicole HILD (!!!) The owners of Sweetface Events in Northern Virginia who graciously allowed me to intern even though I had no prior experience. They gave me SO much wisdom and insight into wedding planning by letting me shadow them these last two years. I have learned more than I can put into words from them and will be forever grateful for their Christ-like kindness to me!

Amy Woodell, who taught me what it’s like to go for a dream. While in Zambia getting to see her idea of starting a non-profit organization ( come to life, she informed me of the logistics of starting a business. She explained to me what a website host was, and that I would need a business license. I would not have even started without her guidance and encouragement!

Ian Burkett, another wonderful Zambia team member who came up with the name for the company in ten seconds after I’d been indecisive for two years. Thanks Ian!

Lara Casey and the SW team, for reminding me that it’s okay to go after a dream and that I don’t have to be afraid of failure. God likes us to ask for big things, because He isn’t limited by them. I’ve loved finding out about what a small business completely firm in the Lord looks like and how to love others in the business. I’ll use the insight I’ve learned from them for the rest of my life!

Aubrey Kinch and Chelsea Olivia, who are solely responsible for the design of my website and all my branding. You should have seen my site when I tried to do it myself… SO grateful for their time and effort to make the company design beautiful in a way that I never could!

My best friends- Christin, Lauren, Emily, Hayley, Sarah B, Sarah H, Cassandra, Melissa, Mona, Shaunessy and all you others that have elevated my excitement for weddings and encouraged me for the past few years. I wouldn’t have half the love for weddings that I do without the hours of wedding videos we’ve watched, or the amount of times we’ve talked about which of us would be bridesmaids or the hours we’ve spent giggling over wedding magazines and talking about what we want for our marriages. Y’all are the best support system and will make up the majority of my business in the years to come!

My family-My dad, Paul, sister, Lauren, step-mom, Andrea, step-brother, Brady, grandparents, Olin and Joyce, all my extended family and my mom- who passed down the event planning gene even though she isn’t here in person. Thanks so much to all of you for encouraging me in my endeavors and being excited with me! I love all of you dearly.

My Savior, who has done immeasurably more than all I could have asked for or imagined. I am so excited to start this new adventure with Him and see where He takes me! I would literally be nothing without the freedom, grace and love He’s showered over me and my greatest hope for this business is that it would be a reflection of Him- an extension of His love, a testament to His character, a demonstration of His grace. I love the Lord because He first loved me and I pray that He’ll always be at the center of this business and every decision I make in it. Thank you Jesus for your unconditional love and tender care!
